Paul Oldfield – Sales Manager, Medical & Clinical, North America
A modern languages graduate, Paul’s recruitment experience was built in the I.T. and Financial Services sectors, before he moved into the Pharmaceutical industry with Barrington James in 2012
‘Early starts and late finishes’
Paul has worked very hard to succeed at Barrington James, becoming, he says, ‘notorious’ for the amount of hours he put in every day. Early starts and late finishes became the norm. But all the hard work put in by Paul has meant a smoother path and a quicker process for his Medical & Clinical clients and candidates alike. It has also started to realize Paul’s strong career ambitions too.
Becoming the finished article
Despite his previous background in recruitment, Paul found that Barrington James’ training and development programme was vital in rounding out his expertise, turning him into the finished article, and making him the highly effective recruitment professional he became.
The rewards of success
Paul made rapid progress up the Barrington James career ladder, winning company awards and rewards as he went. In January 2014 he was appointed sales manager in Raleigh, North Carolina, responsible for a growing team of consultants, (currently 4), in the company’s newly opened second American office.
As a new manager, Paul is now keen to take advantage of the company’s unrivalled share ownership plan, which he believes is a major incentive and motivator for all colleagues.
The best things about working for Barrington James?
There is a lot of consistency about what employees say they like most about working for the company. It is a fun working environment, geared to supporting and rewarding success. And it rewards success highly. Its reputation and advanced working practises have gained the company a respected position in the market place.
But as Paul says, ‘what makes Barrington James great is its people’. From the Board down to the newest member of staff everyone feels involved. ‘This sense of participation means that everyone is working hard to achieve the best for themselves, and the best for Barrington James at all times’.
