Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned business leader to spearhead our patient monitoring, diagnostic systems, and acute respiratory health portfolio in Japan. This position is accountable for driving profitable, sustainable growth through comprehensive strategy development, commercial execution, and operational excellence. As the portfolio owner, you will maintain full oversight of financial performance, resource allocation, forecasting accuracy, indirect channel management, and organizational development.

You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Support, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and Legal, while serving as the primary liaison to regional and global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Leadership

  • Direct portfolio performance in Japan to secure market expansion, revenue targets, and margin objectives.

  • Formulate and execute short- and long-term strategic plans aligned with regional market dynamics.

  • Serve as the principal executive owner and internal/external champion for the product portfolio.

Financial Oversight & Planning

  • Manage financial planning cycles, including annual operating budgets, long-range outlooks, and rolling forecasts.

  • Oversee budget allocations and operational expenditures to maximize return on investment.

  • Monitor performance indicators and drive corrective measures to close operational gaps.

Commercial Strategy & Operations

  • Design and implement go-to-market strategies, incorporating alternative acquisition models (e.g., subscription, leasing, or service-integrated options).

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to support product lifecycle management and market penetration.

  • Ensure data hygiene and pipeline visibility across customer relationship management platforms.

Partner & Relationship Management

  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key medical institutions, administrative leadership, and distribution partners.

  • Oversee indirect channel frameworks, regular performance reviews, and partner capability building.

  • Lead high-stakes negotiations to safeguard commercial interests and expand account coverage.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with supply chain and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and mitigate supply chain disruptions.

  • Resolve escalated operational or quality issues impacting clinical delivery or financial compliance.

  • Advocate for local market requirements within international leadership forums.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Mentor, coach, and scale a high-performing commercial organization.

  • Champion professional development, succession planning, and talent retention.

  • Embed a culture defined by strict compliance, ethical integrity, and operational accountability.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Professional Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive commercial, marketing, business development, or general management experience within the medical technology sector.

  • Leadership: Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, margin management, forecasting accuracy, and P&L accountability.

  • Channel Expertise: Direct experience managing indirect sales models, distributor networks, and channel partnerships.

  • Language Proficiency: Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English.
