Animal Technician

About the Role
As a Trainee Animal Technician, you’ll support the day-to-day care and welfare of animals within a controlled environment. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining high standards of animal care, hygiene, and facility operations.
- Carrying out routine animal husbandry (feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring)
- Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and hygiene
- Cleaning animal housing and equipment
- Recording and reporting observations accurately
- Supporting environmental monitoring (e.g., temperature checks)
- Following strict procedures and regulatory guidelines
- Assisting with general operational tasks as required
We’re keen to hear from individuals who:
- Have some experience working with animals (academic, voluntary, or professional)
- Are comfortable with hands-on, practical work
- Have strong attention to detail and can follow procedures carefully
- Are reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in animal welfare
- Are willing to learn and develop professionally
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in animal husbandry or similar environments
Working Hours & Conditions:
- Flexibility required (including weekends and occasional out-of-hours cover)
- Role involves physical tasks such as lifting, cleaning, and manual handling
- PPE must be worn in accordance with procedures
