Business Analyst, Team Lead

Position Overview

The Senior Lead Business Analyst plays a key role in supporting business transformation initiatives with a strong focus on the Japan organization. This position partners closely with local business leaders and the Japan IT Business Partner to ensure alignment between business priorities and technology solutions.

Acting as a bridge between business and technical teams, this role is responsible for translating complex business needs into actionable requirements, identifying opportunities where technology can drive value, and guiding prioritization decisions. In addition, the role contributes to the development of business analysis standards, supports continuous improvement, and provides mentorship to other business analysts.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of business processes, experience working across multiple systems and technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusted, collaborative relationships with Japan-based business teams and serve as a key point of connection with IT partners

  • Develop a strong understanding of commercial operations in Japan, including sales, marketing, and related functions, and apply this knowledge to technology initiatives

  • Support and enhance the business analysis function through best practices, process improvement, coaching, and knowledge sharing

  • Engage with senior business stakeholders to understand strategic priorities and ensure alignment with technology roadmaps

  • Work closely with business and technical teams to evaluate options, align on solutions, and support delivery of system enhancements and new capabilities

  • Translate business objectives into clear, practical use cases that link technology outcomes to commercial goals

  • Ensure effective, transparent communication between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams


Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Formal certification or training in Business Analysis is preferred


Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience

  • Native or near-native Japanese proficiency and strong professional-level English skills

  • Experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or closely related regulated industries

  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting projects involving enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM (e.g., Salesforce), BI/DWH, or similar platforms

  • Proven experience working directly with senior-level business stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization, relying on collaboration and influence rather than authority

  • Strong experience documenting complex business processes and presenting them in a clear, structured manner

  • Experience analyzing, improving, and recommending changes to business processes

  • Familiarity with process mapping techniques is preferred

  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments is preferred

  • Knowledge of Agile or iterative development approaches is a plus
