Role Overview
The Cardiac Sales Director plays a critical role in driving the identification, adoption, and expansion of robotic-assisted cardiac surgical procedures. This leader partners closely with marketing, commercial learning, clinical affairs, sales leadership, and field sales teams to develop and execute a comprehensive cardiac strategy.
The role focuses on building strong clinical advocates and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to pioneer and expand robotic cardiac surgery programs. The Director will build and lead a national team of strategic sales professionals dedicated to supporting cardiac surgeons, care teams, and hospital programs to drive long-term growth in the cardiac space.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Establish the organization as a leader in enabling customers to achieve the Quintuple Aim in cardiac care

Design scalable and sustainable cardiac programs that support long-term procedure growth

Develop a phased approach to cardiac programs, procedures, and future product development

Identify opportunities for expansion into additional cardiac procedures, such as valve repair/replacement, minimally invasive bypass, ablation, and other emerging techniques
Clinical and Technical Expertise

Develop and maintain deep clinical and technical expertise in robotic cardiac surgical platforms and procedures

Serve as a subject matter expert supporting cardiac surgeons and surgical teams, initially focusing on mitral valve procedures and internal mammary artery harvest

Educate and train key opinion leaders on the safe and effective use of robotic surgical systems to advance their surgical techniques

Lead multidisciplinary care teams through structured training, covering system operation, safety, operating room integration, and clinical application

Support care teams in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative system management

Act as a dedicated clinical and strategic resource for surgeons and hospital teams through ongoing case support

Assist with basic system troubleshooting and service support as needed
Program Development and Execution

Support integration of robotic surgical systems at existing customer sites and ensure sustained commitment and utilization

Develop and implement cardiac training pathways, centers of excellence, and expanded training programs

Identify and convert high-potential cardiac leads through structured training and program development

Partner with local sales teams and leadership to ensure surgeons and care teams achieve independent system use within a defined timeframe
Team Leadership and Talent Development

Identify, hire, train, and develop a high-performing cardiac sales organization

Build and lead roles such as Cardiac Sales Managers and Cardiac Sales Specialists

Foster a collaborative, performance-driven team culture

Coach and develop team members to build long-term clinical and commercial expertise
Market Intelligence and Cross-Functional Collaboration

Provide ongoing feedback to regional and corporate stakeholders on competitive activity, emerging procedures, and innovation opportunities in robotic cardiac surgery

Support sales and marketing events, educational programs, and promotional materials to drive awareness and adoption of cardiac procedures

Partner with internal stakeholders to align on product development priorities and procedural growth strategies

Collaborate on reimbursement strategies and pricing models that align with customer needs and market dynamics
Qualifications and Experience
Experience
-
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in sales leadership at Director level or higher

Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or capital equipment sales strongly preferred
-
Proven track record of sales success and consistent achievement

Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to build, influence, and develop high-performing teams

Strong clinical selling skills with the ability to build credibility with highly educated clinical customers

Previous management experience or a clear management career trajectory required

Cardiac clinical experience strongly preferred
