Primary Function of the Position
The Clinical Applications Engineer serves as a technical liaison for advanced procedural solutions across new and existing markets. This position is critical for enabling the successful deployment and sustainability of specialized programs in diverse healthcare settings. This role collaborates with commercial teams and trainers to:
- Research and communicate the technical requirements for the successful implementation of these programs.
- Actively pursue pre-market and post-market solutions to support regional expansion and seamless integration.
- Work closely with internal experts and external stakeholders, including commercial teams, hospital administration, clinical staff, and third-party manufacturers.
- Lead and support market research efforts to identify region-specific requirements and drive innovative, compliant solutions.
- Facilitate design communication and program implementation, ensuring solutions meet both local and product-specific needs.
- Demonstrate excellence in project management, stakeholder engagement, and horizontal leadership to maintain project momentum and adapt strategies to fit unique account needs.
Essential Job Duties
Execute Exploratory Research Program for Regional Expansion
- Develop and implement project plans for research programs in new regions.
- Collaborate with commercial, clinical, and market teams to prioritize expansion targets.
- Engage stakeholders (hospital administrators, clinical staff) and conduct site assessments to understand local operational needs.
- Deliver tailored information sessions and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor outcomes and share learnings with leadership for continuous program improvement.
Provide Expertise and Feedback for New Product Launches
- Act as the ‘voice of customer’ during early product design, gathering feedback from users and partners.
- Provide input to engineering on usability and regulatory needs.
- Support validation and launch strategies, including hands-on field training and feedback collection.
- Review documentation as a subject matter expert to ensure clarity and compliance.
Lead Regional Solutions from the Customer Perspective
- Identify customer challenges and advocate effective solutions.
- Partner with internal and external teams to implement tailored programs.
- Guide trainers and consultants during rollouts; resolve issues quickly and escalate as needed.
- Cultivate strong relationships with hospital clients, monitor satisfaction, and drive continuous improvement.
Required Education, Training, Skills, and Expertise
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience/interest in the medical procedural space with applicable certification(s).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working in industry, with proven experience translating customer needs into design insights and working with customers on the value and possibilities of new technology.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with international partners across multiple time zones, ensuring seamless communication, information sharing, and coordinated project execution in globally distributed teams.
- Proven ability to work effectively and drive results as part of a team, both internally and externally. Ability to defuse high-tension situations and align stakeholders to progressive solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Agility to pivot focus to meet evolving customer demands and shifting market dynamics.
- Ability to excel in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours.
- Fluent in English and local language(s).
Working Conditions
- Ability to enter sterile processing and patient care areas.
- May require standing for significant amounts of time while at customer accounts.
- May require sitting for significant amounts of time during calls or while traveling.
- Ability to travel up to 60%, located near a major airline/rail hub, and ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel on a moment’s notice and support accounts across varying geographies; comfortable booking and utilizing all forms of travel.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- At least 2 years working in an Operating Room, Sterile Processing, or related clinical environment.
- Experience with high-level disinfection processes in clinical departments.
- Experience introducing innovative robotic or advanced technology into hospital environments.
- Understanding of sterilization processes and equipment used in Sterile Processing Departments (SPDs).
