Position Overview

The Clinical Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical and clinical support for a robotic surgical platform, including physician and staff training, in-service education, and on-site clinical assistance for both existing and prospective customers. The role may also support field service activities such as system installations, repairs, and software upgrades.

This position requires a high level of expertise in complex surgical environments, particularly those involving sophisticated, robotically assisted procedures. The Clinical Specialist must demonstrate strong operating-room presence, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple healthcare professionals simultaneously.

In addition, this role serves as a key conduit between the field and internal teams, regularly sharing insights and observations related to clinical usage, customer feedback, and commercial activity. The Clinical Specialist works to build confidence, competency, and expertise among physicians and clinical staff, while exercising independent judgment in planning and executing daily responsibilities. Close collaboration with research and development teams is expected to support system enhancements and field-driven requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical and Technical Support

  • Deliver comprehensive product training, clinical support, and technical guidance to healthcare professionals

  • Provide staff education, in-service training, and hands-on troubleshooting in clinical settings

  • Support surgeons and clinical teams during complex procedures, ensuring effective and safe system use

Training and Education

  • Collaborate with professional education and commercial teams to design, develop, and deliver training programs for internal and external stakeholders

  • Conduct training in both classroom and field-based environments

  • Ensure educational programs are efficient, effective, and compliant with applicable regulatory standards

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with research and development teams to support product enhancements, updates, and technical feedback

  • Communicate field observations and customer insights to commercial and development teams

  • Provide structured feedback on product design, usability, and clinical needs

Quality and Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with quality management system requirements and all applicable regulatory standards

  • Adhere to quality, safety, and environmental health policies

  • Ensure all presentations and training materials align with approved indications for use and organizational objectives

Qualifications and Experience

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience

  • Prior experience with complex medical devices, preferably involving robotic or advanced surgical technologies

  • Strong foundational knowledge of science and the medical device industry

  • Willingness to travel extensively, up to approximately 75% (primarily domestic)
