As a Consultant based in their Tokyo office, you will be at the forefront of this dynamic industry. You will collaborate with colleagues across Asia and global network on challenging projects that shape the future of healthcare in the region.

 

Overview of the Role

As a Consultant, you are a pivotal leader on your project team, dedicated to a single client engagement. You will be the driving force behind the team's analysis, guiding its direction and ensuring our recommendations are rigorous, insightful, and actionable.

 

Specific Responsibilities

•Identifying the Critical Issues: Consultants work closely with Partners and Managers to define the key business issues that require resolution. They develop the business acumen to quickly identify and prioritize these critical issues early in their career

•Structuring Analyses: Once the key issues are identified, Consultants design the analytical approach to address them. They outline strategies for gathering and analyzing information on market dynamics, growth drivers, competitive positioning, and broader industry trends

•Managing the Team’s Day-to-Day Activities: Leading and mentoring junior team members is an integral part of the Consultant role. Consultants are responsible for managing Associates and Associate Consultants on a day-to-day basis-providing guidance, feedback, and direction to ensure high-quality deliverables

• Solving the Case: Ultimately, clients expect clear, actionable solutions to their most complex business challenges. Consultants ensure the team remains focused on developing robust, data-driven insights and accurate conclusions. They oversee analytical rigor, structure the final output, maintain quality control, and often take a lead role in presenting findings and recommendations to senior client stakeholders

Candidate Requirements
• 3-5 years of demonstrated success in management consulting or relevant industry roles

• Experience in healthcare-related strategy projects - including work in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, life science enablers, or healthcare services-is highly desirable

• Bachelor’s degree required, an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly desirable

• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and execution capabilities

• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and intellectual curiosity for new knowledge

• Proven financial modelling proficiency, with hands-on experience in developing project finance, operating, and valuation models

• Experience working effectively in multicultural environments

• High sense of ownership, responsibility, and adaptability, with a strong focus on delivering results

• Excellent organization and time management skills

• Integrity, professionalism, and a strong team-oriented mindset

• Demonstrated leadership skills

• Fluency in both Japanese and English

• Must have permission to live and work in Japan.
