Position Summary

The Customer Support Engineer plays a critical role in achieving customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional technical service and support for advanced radiation therapy equipment installed in hospitals across Japan.

This field-based position is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while maintaining strong communication with both internal stakeholders and hospital personnel (including physicians, radiologic technologists, and administrative staff) to ensure optimal system performance and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Field Support & Technical Service

  • Perform scheduled periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of radiation therapy systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment faults, including software and hardware issues.
  • Execute system upgrades (software and hardware) as required.
  • Provide on-site technical support and respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone and in-person.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (Sales, Technical Support, and Operations) and hospital stakeholders to resolve issues and meet customer needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Basic proficiency in PC/software applications and troubleshooting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Japan, including remote locations.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to align with hospital schedules.
  • Valid Japanese Class 1 Driver’s License (普通自動車第1種免許).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, ideally supporting radiation therapy, medical imaging, or other large-scale medical / complex equipment.
  • X-ray Equipment Operator certification (放射線作業主任者). Candidates without certification will be supported in obtaining it post-hire.

Location & Travel This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to customer hospitals nationwide, with occasional international travel for training (primarily to the United States).
