Director, Digital Solutions & Commercial Strategy – Japan

Role Overview

The Director, Digital Solutions & Commercial Strategy is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the success of a company’s digital healthcare portfolio in the Japan market. This includes ownership of commercial strategy, market development, implementation planning, customer adoption, and post-launch support activities.

The digital portfolio represents a rapidly expanding and strategically important component of the organization’s broader healthcare ecosystem. These solutions are designed to enhance access to clinical and operational data, improve workflow efficiency, support professional education and collaboration, and strengthen customer engagement across healthcare institutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute digital product launch strategies for the Japan market, including go-to-market planning, sales enablement, operational readiness, budget planning, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with commercial and cross-functional leadership teams, collaborating with key stakeholders to align business objectives and address market-specific needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with medical societies, healthcare leaders, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to understand customer needs, market trends, and emerging opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing digital commercial and technical support organization.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, product development, technical operations, service, legal, finance, and other business functions to ensure alignment on strategic priorities.
  • Establish organizational and operational frameworks to support successful customer onboarding, digital integration, and deployment within hospital IT environments.
  • Drive customer engagement strategies focused on long-term adoption, satisfaction, and operational success.
  • Build and sustain a high-performance culture focused on innovation, collaboration, accountability, and customer impact.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred, ideally in Business Administration, Information Technology, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of leadership experience in healthcare technology, digital transformation, enterprise software, healthcare IT integration, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of hospital IT systems and healthcare digitalization trends, including electronic medical records (EMR), imaging systems, interoperability, cloud technologies, and healthcare policy environments.
  • Familiarity with technical integration concepts such as HL7, DICOM, SQL databases, servers, networking infrastructure, and enterprise systems architecture.
  • Experience in business development, new market creation, or high-growth environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and complex problem-solving.
  • Executive-level communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational execution.
  • Prior experience in commercial leadership, consulting, digital implementation, or enterprise solution deployment is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Native-level Japanese and strong business-level English proficiency required.
