Director of Safety Toxicology

We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Safety Toxicology to lead nonclinical safety across a growing biotech pipeline. This is a fully remote role offering the opportunity to shape toxicology strategy from early discovery through IND and beyond, working cross-functionally with research, clinical, and regulatory teams.

What you’ll do:
You’ll define and execute the nonclinical safety strategy for multiple programs, ensuring studies are scientifically robust and aligned with global regulatory expectations. You’ll oversee the design, interpretation, and reporting of toxicology studies (GLP and non-GLP), guide external CRO partners, and serve as the internal expert on safety pharmacology and risk assessment.

You’ll work closely with discovery and translational teams to identify potential liabilities early, contribute to candidate selection, and support IND-enabling activities. You’ll also play a key role in regulatory interactions, preparing nonclinical sections of submissions and representing safety toxicology in agency meetings.

What we’re looking for:
You bring deep expertise in toxicology within pharma or biotech, with a track record of advancing programs into the clinic. You’re comfortable leading strategy, managing vendors, and communicating complex safety data clearly to diverse stakeholders.

• PhD, DVM, or equivalent in toxicology or a related field
• Significant industry experience in nonclinical safety/toxicology
• Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA, ICH)
• Experience supporting IND/CTA submissions
• Proven ability to lead programs and influence cross-functional teams
