We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Toxicology Scientist to join our growing scientific team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented toxicologist to lead innovative research programmes, provide scientific expertise across multidisciplinary projects, and contribute to the development of safe and effective products within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The Role

As Lead Toxicology Scientist, you will provide scientific leadership for toxicological assessments, study design, data interpretation, and regulatory submissions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor junior scientists, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest scientific and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee toxicology studies from planning through to reporting and interpretation.
  • Provide expert toxicological risk assessments for a diverse portfolio of products and compounds.
  • Develop and implement scientific strategies to support product development and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, regulatory dossiers, and scientific publications.
  • Engage with regulatory authorities, clients, and external stakeholders as a subject matter expert.
  • Mentor and develop junior scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence.
  • Stay current with emerging toxicological methodologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to business development activities and scientific thought leadership.

What you’ll need:

  • A PhD (or equivalent experience) in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience within toxicology, ideally gained in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, chemical, or regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in toxicological risk assessment and study interpretation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and international regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading scientific projects and managing stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.
