Role Overview

We are seeking a Marketing Automation Specialist to lead and optimize our digital marketing automation capabilities in Japan. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing scalable, compliant, multi-channel customer journeys that drive key business outcomes such as training adoption, event participation, progression through sales stages, and conversions.

You will work closely with Japan Marketing, Sales, Digital/Web, and Regional/Global Marketing Operations teams to deliver localized, high-impact programs using marketing automation platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Automation Platform Delivery & Operations

  • Own end-to-end campaign execution in the marketing automation platform (emails, landing pages, forms, workflows, nurture programs, and triggers).
  • Ensure flawless deployment, testing, and post-launch validation of campaigns.
  • Apply global standards and governance (naming conventions, tagging, channels, tokens, UTM structure, and compliance) to improve efficiency and consistency.

CRM Integration & Data Management

  • Maintain and monitor the integration between the marketing automation platform and Salesforce CRM, including data mapping, sync processes, and governance.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and Finance to ensure accurate, reporting-ready data flows and campaign attribution.

Multi-Channel Automation

  • Partner with the Web/Digital team to create seamless web forms and landing page experiences connected to the CRM and automation platforms.
  • Design and scale event-driven journeys using webinar and event platforms (e.g., ON24, Cvent), including registration, attendance tracking, follow-up, and attribution.
  • Support Japan-specific channel expansions and engagement strategies while maintaining full compliance.

Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead A/B testing, journey refinements, and program optimizations to boost engagement and conversion rates.
  • Identify bottlenecks and develop scalable solutions, including self-serve enablement resources for marketing teams and partners.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all programs meet healthcare industry standards for data privacy, consent management, retention policies, and auditability.

Qualifications

Business Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on marketing automation experience in Japan, ideally within MedTech, healthcare, or other regulated B2B industries.
  • Proven ability to translate business objectives into effective lifecycle marketing programs with measurable results.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience advising leaders and managing priorities across cross-functional teams.
  • Native-level Japanese fluency and professional business English (for collaboration with global teams).

Technical Requirements

  • 5+ years of deep, hands-on expertise with Marketo (or equivalent platform), including programs, smart campaigns, tokens, forms, landing pages, lead scoring, lifecycle programs, and templates.
  • Strong experience with Salesforce CRM, including lead/contact management, campaign membership, field mapping, attribution, and data governance.
  • Experience integrating event/webinar platforms (ON24, Cvent, or similar) with marketing automation and CRM systems.
  • Solid understanding of digital tracking fundamentals (UTMs, conversion tracking, campaign taxonomy, and funnel reporting).
  • Bonus: Familiarity with workflow tools (e.g., Jira/Workfront), basic SQL, or Customer Data Platform (CDP) concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of data standardization, database structure, and queries.
