Job Description – Strategic Growth & Market Development Lead (Healthcare Sector)

Position Overview

This role is responsible for identifying and expanding new growth opportunities within the healthcare industry by developing commercial strategies, driving partnership initiatives, and supporting long-term revenue expansion across emerging market segments in Japan.

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional initiatives focused on market expansion, portfolio development, strategic collaborations, and commercial capability enhancement.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Market Expansion

  • Develop and execute growth strategies targeting untapped or evolving healthcare market segments.
  • Create and implement commercialization plans, including market positioning, pricing frameworks, launch readiness activities, and operational alignment.
  • Build relationships with clinical stakeholders, industry advisors, and external experts to strengthen market adoption initiatives.
  • Oversee project governance activities including opportunity tracking, budget coordination, milestone management, and business performance reporting.
  • Contribute to long-term business planning cycles and strategic roadmap development for the Japan organization.

Business Development & Partnerships

  • Identify new commercial opportunities through strategic alliances, licensing discussions, distribution collaborations, and portfolio expansion initiatives.
  • Evaluate potential partnership and investment opportunities that complement existing business capabilities.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify industry trends, unmet customer needs, and areas for accelerated growth.
  • Support cross-functional due diligence activities related to strategic opportunities and market entry initiatives.

Commercial & Marketing Capability Development

  • Lead initiatives that strengthen commercial excellence and organizational marketing capabilities.
  • Drive projects focused on customer engagement, digital communication strategies, and market education programs.
  • Support the development of internal talent and best practices related to product commercialization and strategic marketing.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to align local initiatives with broader business priorities.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Background

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in commercial strategy, product management, business development, or marketing within the healthcare, life sciences, medical technology, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Prior experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders in matrix organizations is preferred.
  • Exposure to partnership development, market expansion activities, or portfolio strategy initiatives is advantageous.
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members is considered beneficial.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Engineering, Healthcare, or a related discipline.
