Position Overview
This role focuses on pre-market development and commercialization activities in the pulmonology field, with a strong emphasis on biopsy modalities for small peripheral lung lesions. The position is responsible for building key relationships, driving market readiness, and supporting the successful introduction and adoption of advanced endoluminal technologies in Japan.
Key Responsibilities
Japan Market Commercialization
- Lead the commercial launch of the endoluminal product portfolio in Japan by identifying priority accounts, generating opportunities, and driving sales growth in the assigned territory.
- Build strategic relationships with key physicians and hospital executives to communicate both clinical and economic value, facilitating hospital-wide consensus and securing purchase agreements.
- Develop and present ROI models and business cases to hospital leadership, incorporating the latest bronchoscopy technologies and competitive landscape.
- Oversee training, education programs, and implementation support for new accounts, including installation coordination and contract negotiations.
Stakeholder & KOL Engagement
- Identify, develop, and strengthen relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and major stakeholders in thoracic surgery and pulmonology.
- Engage customers from the pre-commercial phase through full commercialization.
- Represent the company at specialty society levels and build strong physician and executive interest.
Market & Organizational Insights
- Build deep organizational knowledge of interventional pulmonology, interventional radiology, and thoracic surgery specialties, focusing on biopsy and treatment of small peripheral lung lesions, including:
- Patient journey from initial visit to treatment
- Current imaging technologies and medical devices used
- Incentives, barriers, and key stakeholders in care pathways
- Financial and clinical value drivers
- Gather insights on lung cancer screening and incidental nodule management programs across different hospital segments in Japan.
- Translate field learnings into actionable recommendations for internal teams (global marketing, commercial leadership, product management, and clinical engineering).
- Collaborate closely with regional and global leadership to align strategies and share market intelligence.
Additional Duties
- Prepare clinical and economic strategies to support technology adoption.
- Understand ROI calculations for navigational bronchoscopy and competing modalities.
- Manage full sales cycle activities, including customer support, cross-functional coordination, and reporting.
- Travel up to 40%
Qualifications
Experience & Background
- 5+ years of experience in the medical device industry.
- Proven background in medical device sales, sales management, and/or marketing.
- Experience in early-stage product and procedure adoption.
- Strong understanding of Asian (particularly Japanese) market dynamics and global operations.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across regions, cultures, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership presence in dynamic, evolving environments.
- Ability to develop and deliver clear business plans to senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Bachelor’s degree required
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel within Japan and the Asia Pacific region, with occasional international travel.
