Senior Safety Toxicologist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Toxicologist to join an innovative and growing organisation based in Lyon. This is a key role supporting the advancement of novel therapies, with a strong focus on nonclinical safety and translational risk assessment.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide strategic leadership across toxicology programmes, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure robust safety evaluation throughout drug development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, interpretation, and reporting of nonclinical toxicology studies
• Provide expert safety input to project teams from discovery through early clinical development
• Develop and implement toxicology strategies aligned with regulatory expectations
• Author and review regulatory documents (e.g., IND/CTA submissions)
• Collaborate with internal teams and external CROs to ensure high-quality study delivery
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to scientific excellence within the organisation

Requirements:

• PhD, DVM, or equivalent in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related field
• Significant industry experience in nonclinical safety/toxicology within pharma or biotech
• Strong knowledge of global regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA, ICH)
• Proven track record supporting regulatory submissions
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Fluent in English (French is advantageous)
